Memling Echo | Frederik Neyrinck
For the Closer to Memling Experience, Frederik Neyrinck composed ‘Memling Echo’. He got the inspiration for the contemporary piece of music from 15th-century composers Gilles Joye and Jacob Obrecht, both portrayed by Hans Memling, and from Bedyngham's famous song ‘O rosa bella’. The composition combines ancient instruments, such as the Renaissance recorder, plectrum lute and viola, with contemporary counterparts such as bass flute, guitar, harp, viola and cello. Percussion and two singing voices connect the historical and contemporary sounds into a whole.
The result is a compelling piece of music that takes the immersion and atmosphere of the Experience to a new level.
